Hendelsman-Hendrix Award
DCSHA awards a hearing aid to a student in the District of Columbia who might not otherwise have the opportunity to receive amplification. The Handelsman-Hendrix Award was set up in memory of audiologist Jane Handelsman-Hendrix and is funded by donations made throughout the year to DCSHA.
2002 - Natacha Pericles. Natasha was 11 years old and a student at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School for the Deaf at Gallaudet University.
2001 - Rasco Brobbey, a 13-year-old student at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School.

ASHA AWARDS


ASHF State Clinical Achievement Award

Each year, DCSHA is asked to select one individual from within the state to receive an award for demonstrated contributions to the advancement of knowledge in clinical practice in speech-language pathology and audiology within the past six years. That individual named by the state association will receive a certificate from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHF) and will be named the State Clinical Achievement Award winner. From among all the State Clinical Achievement Award winners, one individual will be chosen as the recipient of the Louis M. DiCarlo Award for Outstanding Recent Clinical Achievement. Frank R. Kleffner Clinical Career Award
Individuals demonstrating significant contributions to clinical science and practice over a 20-year career are eligible for nomination by fellow professionals to receive a recognition award. Supported by the Kleffner Fund.

Rolland J. Van Hattum Award for Contribution in the Schools
The Rolland J. Van Hattum Award for Contribution in the Schools recognizes an individual demonstrating exemplary commitment and contribution to service delivery in the schools.
