| | | The Legislative Council of ASHA held its VERY LAST meeting at the ASHA
Convention in Boston on Saturday-Sunday, November 17-18, 2007. If you recall,
the Legislative Council passed a resolution to adopt a new governance structure
in March 2007 which will take effect in January 2008. This new structure will
feature a 16-member Board of Directors, and two 53-member advisory councils –
one for speech-language pathologists/speech scientists, and the other for
audiologists/hearing scientists. There will be one representative for each
advisory council from each state, international, and NSSLHA. All future
meetings of the Advisory Councils will be held sometime in the spring, but
typically in late March-early April, at the ASHA National Office. Any
additional meetings needed will be scheduled to occur on Committee-Board day at
the ASHA Convention (usually on Wednesday, just prior to the Convention).
At our last LC meeting, the LC as a whole passed the following
resolutions: LC 9-2007 Approve the 2008 budget of ASHA LC
